First Families of Alabama

First Families of Alabama (FFA) is our longest running program offered to members of the AGS. This program allows members to recognize, preserve, and display their lineage as it relates to the creation of Alabama. It requires members to submit proof of their ancestors arriving in the area now known as Alabama before becoming a state on 14 December 1819.

If you feel you may qualify to receive this certification please click here for more information regarding this program, the requirements that need to be met and how to apply.

The application and documentation is submitted to the First Families of Alabama Committee for verification of the information.

Upon acceptance, these records are presented to the Special Collections Department of Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, where they will be on permanent file.
